Terms of Service
Last updated: 31 August 2026
These terms apply to iranskasamfelagid.is and to the services the Iranian-Icelandic Community offers through it. By creating an account or using the site, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
Who we are
Íranska Samfélagið á Íslandi — the Iranian-Icelandic Community — is a non-profit association registered in Iceland on 7 May 2026. Our address is Viðihvammur 1, 220 Hafnarfjörður, and you can reach us at info@iranskasamfelagid.is.
The association is run by an elected board and by volunteers. It is not a company and it sells nothing.
Your account
You need an account to register for events, to submit content, and to use the member area. Give correct information and keep it current — it is how we reach you about the events you have signed up for.
You are responsible for your password and for what is done through your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.
- One account per person.
- You must be 18 or older to open an account. A parent or legal guardian registers on behalf of a child.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will say why.
- You can delete your own account at any time from Settings, and it is deleted immediately.
Events and registration
Most of our events are free. Where an event costs something, the price and how to pay are stated on that event's page.
Registering is a commitment to come. Places are limited and somebody is usually waiting, so cancel from your dashboard if your plans change.
We may change or cancel an event — a hall falls through, a speaker cannot travel. If that happens we tell everyone who registered, by email and, if you allowed them, by notification.
Children's classes and activities
A parent or legal guardian registers a child. You give the child's first name, last name and kennitala, along with your own name, email address and telephone number.
We ask for the child's kennitala because we are required to report participants to the Icelandic bodies that supervise and support this kind of activity. We use it for nothing else, and it is visible only to the administrators who run the activity.
By registering a child you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian and that you may give us this information.
Donations
Donations are voluntary. You give your name and kennitala, a payment claim is issued to that kennitala in the Icelandic bank system, and you pay it in your banking app.
The site never asks for and never stores card numbers or bank credentials.
A donation that has been paid is not normally refunded. If a claim was issued by mistake, write to us and we will cancel it.
What you post
Comments, stories, photographs, business listings, reviews, applications — what you send us stays yours. By posting it you give the association permission to publish it on this site and on its own channels, and to translate it into the site's three languages.
Post only what is yours to post. No unlawful, hateful, harassing or defamatory content; no other people's personal information; no advertising unrelated to the community.
We may remove or edit anything on the site, and where content is harmful we may do it without notice.
The business directory and the job board
Businesses and jobs are listed by the people who submit them. We publish them as a service to the community: we do not verify the claims made in a listing, and we are not a party to anything you agree with a listed business or employer.
A review must describe your own genuine experience. Reviews written for or against a business by someone with an interest in it are removed.
The service itself
The site is free and is run by volunteers. We do our best to keep it working and its information correct, but we provide it as it is, and we may change, pause or discontinue any part of it.
Liability
So far as Icelandic law allows, the association is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, from content other users post, or from an interruption of service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version, and we announce material changes to members by email. Using the site after a change means you accept the new version.
Law and disputes
Icelandic law applies. A dispute we cannot settle between us goes to Héraðsdómur Reykjaness.
