Writing an Icelandic CV
Include: a professional photo, full name, kennitala (or national ID), email, phone, education history (most recent first), work experience (most recent first), language skills with level, and 2–3 references with contact details. Keep the CV to 1–2 pages. In Iceland, a photo and kennitala are standard.
Cover Letter
Write a focused cover letter (max 1 page) explaining why you want this specific job and what skills you bring. Research the company beforehand. Even a brief Icelandic introduction shows effort and commitment and gives you a significant advantage.
Interview Tips
Punctuality is important in Icelandic work culture. Dress professionally. Common questions cover your work history, strengths, and how you handle challenges. It is normal to discuss salary expectations. Following up with a thank-you email after the interview is appreciated.
