A community-curated guide by Iranian-Icelandic Community

Online Government Services

Almost all Icelandic institutions have websites where you can submit forms, send documents electronically, and use secure personal portals. Iceland has strict data protection laws. Healthcare portal: www.heilsuvera.is — renew prescriptions, book appointments, and access test results.

A digital certificate lets you log in securely to government services and sign documents electronically. Apply at your bank or Auðkenni's office: Holtagarðar, 2nd floor, 104 Reykjavík (www.audkenni.is). You need a valid passport, Icelandic phone number, and kennitala.

Transport and Driving

Iceland has no train or metro — travel is by car, bus, bicycle, or on foot. Bus routes and tickets: www.bus.is (driver does not give change). Foreign driving licences are accepted with a residence certificate from www.skra.is. Driving test age is 17 (lessons from age 16). Winter tyres mandatory in winter; seatbelts and child car seats are required by law.
