Persian Added to the Mother Tongue Language List in Iceland
Persian is now listed as one of the mother tongue language groups in Móðurmál, with a dedicated page providing class and contact information.
The Iranian Community in Iceland is pleased to announce that Persian has been added to the list of mother tongue language groups in Móðurmál – The Association on Bilingualism.
This is an important step for supporting Persian language learning among Iranian and Persian-speaking children and families in Iceland. Families can now visit the official Persian – persneska page on the Móðurmál website to find information about class location, schedule, and contact details.
Mother tongue education is not only about language. It is also connected to identity, culture, family memory, and the relationship between generations. For children growing up in a multilingual environment, regular access to their heritage language can support confidence, family communication, cultural connection, and broader language development.
According to the information published by Móðurmál, the Persian group is now listed as Persian – persneska, with a dedicated page available on the organization’s website.
