Dear friends,
The board of the Iranian Community in Iceland is pleased to invite all members and families to a special gathering for the Iranian celebration of Khordadgan.
Khordadgan is one of the ancient Iranian celebrations, traditionally associated with water, health, joy, friendship, and togetherness.
Alongside friendly conversation and community time, we will also have a barbecue and enjoy a pleasant afternoon outdoors.
About Khordadgan:
Khordadgan is connected with the sixth day of Khordad in the Iranian calendar and is traditionally understood as a celebration of water, purity, health, and the continuity of life. Water is seen as a symbol of life’s flow, the fertility of the earth, physical well-being, and inner balance.
Common symbols associated with Khordadgan include water, springs, the lily flower, and silk thread. Traditional customs include gathering near water, setting a ceremonial table, drinking clear spring water, offering lily flowers, and wishing for health and well-being.
We look forward to seeing you there.
